PANTONE 17-1230 Mocha Mousse. COLOR OF THE YEAR 2025

The 2025 Pantone color of the year is a warm, rich, and sophisticated hue. It is Mocha Mousse 🤎! What do we love about this color choice? We love that it is a great neutral tone that offers versatility in many design schemes. While color trends have been swinging warmer as of late, (we love seeing fully dipped rooms oozing with warmth) it’s the blend of light and warm that really gets us excited! We have spent years removing brown from our residential design projects; however, there are several ways in which this hue can be beautifully incorporated into today’s way of modern living and not feel like the dated early 2000’s builder homes.

What we love about Mocha Mousse specifically is that it is a soft and pretty color. Period. It’s not overly dark or light and therefore pairs nicely with darker hues or any lighter off-white colors. When you think of mousse, images of decadent and delicious desserts come to mind. Textures also immediately spark the imagination. Think silks, velvets and linens in this soft shade. How to Bring Mocha Mousse Into Your Home

Brown is always a good neutral choice especially when you want to steer clear of the gray family of colors. It is a timeless backdrop that is inviting and irresistible and there are so many ways for it to look polished in today’s interiors.

FLOORING

Flooring selections are an easy way to bring this color in. If selecting a wood or LVT floor for the entire home, opt for a warmer, deeper tone of color range. The main flooring is a large interior design element and this tone is classic and here to stay and stand the test of time.

PAINT

Paint is an immediate way to instantly change the mood of a room. Envelop a room in this soft shade to build a sense of warmth, depth and sophistication. Paint is also one of the more economical ways to spruce up a space and dip your toe into something new and different. The best part is that if in a few years time, you want to change it down the road, no problem!

CABINETS

Many wood species are by nature a shade of brown and therefore offer a warmth color and texture. However, the stain you choose can really vary the feel. We are loving warmer, deeper shades of brown for wood stains these days. Check out this custom stain we did in this primary bathroom for a new build interior design project we did. We LOVE how it turned out.

TILE & STONE

Love this color and want to fully commit? Refresh a bathroom, a laundry or kitchen backsplash with this pretty mocha mousse shade. The color is a perfect neutral to play into several schemes. If you want a softer, more artisanal feel, select something like these gorgeous zellige tiles from Riad tile. This is definitely on our favorite list! Another way to go make a statement with this color is to select a brown-hued stone for countertops, backsplashes or floors. The varied (and gorgeous) tones you find running through natural stone, cannot be beat.

We selected a light brown colored tile for a fun secondary bathroom in a Westlake remodel project we did. While a standard subway shape, we played with the install pattern to make the tile choice more interesting.

Wallpaper

Wallpaper is always a way to make a statement and we are huge fans. In fact, we include wallpaper in most of our designs. There is such a wide range of styles in wallpaper these days and therefore it is easy to find one that will fit your taste and style. Do you want to keep it minimal but add amazing texture? Go with a sisal or a grasscloth. Do you want to make more of a statement? Select a bold stripe, interesting floral or other graphic print. These days, it is also very easy to strip wallpaper should you need to-no longer is it the pain from our parent’s homes!

This monochromatic brown room is rich, sophisticated, and elegant. This darker brown on brown space has the power to persuade the non-brown lover to think about this hue in a new way!
